Looking for a way to split an mpeg2 and 2 audio tracks

i am looking for a way to split an mpeg2 and 2 audio tracks. i do not want to reencode the mpeg2 as i capped it from a tape in that format (i dont have the space to cap to avi), but the entire dvd ends up being 6 gigs with the pcm audio. what i want to do is split it up into two dvds and include the original audio and the new audio that i have been working on.

if anyone could please tell me a program that can split the mpeg2 file and the audio files at the same time (ie both at 1 hour exactly so that there would be no over lap), then that would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Looking for a way to split an mpeg2 and 2 audio tracks

i am pretty sure that tmpgenc will want to reencode my video for me when i use the mpeg tools. but even if it doesnt, how do i split both audio tracks at one time with it?

Re: Looking for a way to split an mpeg2 and 2 audio tracks

Have you demultiplexed the mpeg ? You will need to work on the audio in Audacity or some audio editing program, once you have all 6 files (2 audio and 1 mpeg for each half) then you need a DVD authoring program that allows you to use two audio sources. Tmpgenc should split without re-encoding, I also have used Womble Mpeg wizard http://www.womble.com/download/index.html

Re: Looking for a way to split an mpeg2 and 2 audio tracks

why would i need to work on the audio in a different program than tmpgenc? if the video and audio are muxed, tmpgenc will just split both for me and output the 2 new files and then i can just demultiplex from there.

Unless both audio sources are dead on in sync with each other you will need to adjust the new one to match the demuxed one.

Syco,

There's a freeware program called DVTool. I think it might help you split that mpeg2. Here's a link to download:

i didnt work on it at all tonight. but i am no stranger to tpmgenc (been using it since it was still in japanese back when i got my first computer) and i really thought that the mpeg tools reencoded the video. i really hope that i am wrong and will be finding out soon.

Re: Looking for a way to split an mpeg2 and 2 audio tracks

Sorry about that, I'll look into studying that
As long as your source has the same criteria as the setting for Tmpgenc or Womble all they do is copy. I like that in womble you can check the details and see exactly what is copied and what will be re-encoded if needed.
