Re: anyone ever have this burning problem?

At what speeds do you burn? Try it slower. Do you have the newest firmware for your drive? Have you tried a different media.

I had a similar problem with cd-rs from Traxdata on my old Cd-burner. They played fine on all other drives, but the device I burnt it with never read the cds. I switched to different media.

Re: anyone ever have this burning problem?

I had a very similar problem with my CD burner right before it died altogether and I had to replace it:

I could burn succesful CDs that played on my CD player, but I could not read or open any CDs/CD-ROMs (audio or software) with that drive. My drive would burn files, but would not read them.

It was an excellent Lite-on burner, and I probably burned well over 3,000 discs before it died, so I got my money's worth out of it.

Aiko

Re: anyone ever have this burning problem?

is it anything to do with scms set to 1, so it'll only copy one time? just a silly guess.

Re: anyone ever have this burning problem?

computer burning software don't do scms that I know of, or atleast by default. if you're referring to serial copy management system. SCUMS. and it would read regardless just not write.

Toast question

I was wondering what the difference is between "4x" and "4x DVD" when you set write speed? The "Help" for Toast bites and gives no info about this whatsoever. I also came up blank at the Roxio website.

I'm using Toast Titanium on OS10.3.9.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Toast question

4x refers to CD-R/W speed and 4x DVD refers to DVD-/+R/W speed.

Re: Toast question

Thanks ffooky, you are very knowledgeable.

One more question: why does it give the 4x option when burning a DVD?

Re: Toast question

Because it's one of the theoretically available speeds for DVD burning. Once you have a blank in the drive, the speeds given in bold are those that are actually available to you.

Re: Toast question

No worries. I was a bit perplexed as to how come you were asking these questions but you've just explained it

There really are a lot of nice new features in Toast 7 but the imminent 7.0.1 is definitely needed to address the bugs.
