Re: tape transferring - official government papers

Today I stumbled upon an interesting article from the Government of Canada on the proper techniques on tape digitization. Interesting read for those that need to know....

https://www.canada.ca/en/conservatio...dio-tapes.html

Your official government guide to preserving analog recordings.

Awesome. Now I just need a working 8-track player (things we used back in the 1900's).

Re: tape transferring

I have a bunch of audio tapes my family recorded in the late 60s early 70s (they would just record the parties/special events on tapes) can I transfer them myself (tape deck to my sony pcm-m10) or should I send them out?

These are almost 50 years old so I dont think they can be played multiple times

Re: tape transferring

Clean the heads on your deck (lots of online instructions), and you should be OK. Just in case...do the one you are least interested in first.
