Re: dvd playback problem

let me rephrase that last one. it came out wrong. i have 2 dvd burners on my comp. i tried burning the concerts on both of them. they play fine in my burners after they burn. but they jump around or wont play in any standalone. but i burned a dvd that i already owned to see if it would work. when i do that, the burned dvd plays everywhere.

Re: dvd playback problem

This is going to sound silly...but are you having problems with just one show?

Or ANY show now?

Re: dvd playback problem

I'm not sure if this was brought up, but does you player play both NTSC and PAL? And what format was the DVD that you're having problems with?

Re: will play on computer, but won't play on dvd

Nero Express is probly the issue...

go to your program list and run Nero Burning ROM.
Select "DVD" and then "DVD-Video".
Nero will open the project window...drag ALL of the files in the show's Video_TS folder to the *red* Video_TS folder [left window].
Make sure yer proper disc drive is selected & Click Burn.

Re: dvd playback problem

as Lynne said, are the show's NTSC or PAL? and is your standalone NTSC or PAL?

i'm guessing this might be the problem, unless you've got burners going bad or your standalone is dying...

Re: dvd playback problem

from what i could find, it seems this is a PAL player [i could be wrong, but all the links google spit out were european]...i'm guessing you might be running into a NTSC vs PAL issue.

for the show thats not working, you can try this "cheat" rherron posted...it works *most* of the time [if indeed the problem yer having is NTSC/PAL]...you can get the program ifoedit [freeware] at one of the following sites:
http://www.ifoedit.com/
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/vi...ls/ifoedit.cfm
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/ifoedit-basic.htm

here's the guide for the cheat:

Using IFOEdit, open .IFO files. The program will have two windows of information. In the bottom window there will be lots of lines of text. Look for the lines (there will be 1 or 2 or more depending upon which IFO file you are looking at) of text containing the word "PAL." Double click those lines. A dialog box will open. There is a button to select PAL or NTSC. Select NTSC. Save the file. It will ask if you want to change the .BUP files as well. Answer "Yes." You're done. Burn away.

This is not a true conversion (PAL to NTSC) but changing the info files like this will trick many DVD players into believing this is an NTSC recording. I have heard it will not work on all DVD players but it works great on mine. No problems whatsoever. It does nothing to alter the actual video files, so there is no deterioration of the quality. It is my understanding that many (most?) newer DVD players are capable of playing both NTSC and PAL though they are not sold that way (perhaps because of pressure from the movie industry because it helps make it easier for them to maintain its region encoding system -- just a guess).

The worst thing that could happen is that it wouldn't work on your player and you'd have wasted $.50 cents on a DVD+R. Back up every file in the "VIDEO_TS" folder that is not a video (VOB) file and if this doesn't work for you you can restore the folder to it's original state (this is also a good idea in case you ever wish to trade the show or reseed it, etc.).

Rob

ok, i go to nero burning rom se, it comes up with a new compilation box that has dvd selected and dvd video selected. i also have to select new or cancel or nero express or open. i chose new and it opened up the dvd burning rom. i do not see the red folder. all i see is disc with "new" next to it. how do i get the red folder?

Re: will play on computer, but won't play on dvd

there should be the disc "new"--with an Audio_TS folder and a Video_TS folder [red] ...not to be an ass, but are you sure you didn't select one of the DVD-ROM options instead of DVD-Video?

if you've selected DVD-Video for sure, try creating an Audio_TS folder [leave empty] and drag the show's Video_TS folder from the browser to the project...then burn...
