help! Pc doesnt recognise FLAC

Hi there, could anyone help me out with this?

I tried to download a few audioshows with limewire at the "torrent-forum" and everything worked well, stored the files in my hard drive. When I tried to open the files, the computer said he didn't recognise .flac files. How can I get rid of this problem or what programm do I need to solve it?

Thanks for anyone's help!
Sanne

Re: help! Pc doesnt recognise FLAC

Go to google or whatever and search for FLAC Frontend and use that to decompress the files

Re: help! Pc doesnt recognise FLAC

windows doesn't recognize flac. you are correct. you will either need to decompress them to wav with the frontend noted above so you can play them with windows media player or get a player that plays them by default without decompressing (my recommendation). go to our faq and there is a nice list of software that does this. there are many options.

I've had nothing but headaches with Frontend. I use Traders' Little Helper now, and haven't looked back.

Re: help! Pc doesnt recognise FLAC

Take a look at our Freeware FAQ: http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...m#faq_software Get Traders' Little Helper to decode the flac files. But, as noted above, if you just want to play them on your computer, you do not need to decode them, just use winamp or foobar2000.

Re: help! Pc doesnt recognise FLAC

^yes! Traders Little Helper is a great program but what you should also get is something where you just put the FLAC files in and press 'play' to hear the music with no extra steps.

Re: help! Pc doesnt recognise FLAC

VLC also plays .flac files without decompressing them first. It's also a great little video player.
