Disabling the Like feature at TTD

If you look at most posts, in the top right, there is a little heart. Clicking on it will drop a box at the bottom of that post that says "The following members like this post:" followed by a list of names of those that had clicked the heart.

I note that not every post has this heart. If I'm allowed to, how would I disable or opt out of this feature, or disable it on select posts? I wasn't able to find anything that seemed to pertain in the user CP.

Hope I didn't stick this question in the wrong forum, it tain't very technical.

Thanks.

Ha, I liked your post while messing with the heart. Don't know of any way to disable it. Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Re: Disabling the Like feature at TTD

I don't quite understand what you mean... do you want the heart button to go away? or do you want to like posts without your name being known?

ps I also like your post

It's sitewide add-on, cannot be altered by regular user.

I like all the posts and oviously I don't like that feature to be disabled nor uninstalled.

Once I accidentally clicked it, and there is no way to turn it off. So be careful

Re: Disabling the Like feature at TTD

I was assuming the "heart" was not universal, as I had seen it missing on some posts, though now I'm looking at one of those very same posts that was missing the heart yesterday has the heart today. I was going to provide links to posts, torrent detail posts to be specific, from the same uploader, one with and one without the heart, but now they both have the heart. Feature must be a tad glitchy.

I just found it mildly annoying to be notified in the top left corner that I had a "new like", and had noted that some trolls used the feature to let you know they were keeping an eye on you. I'll just deal with it another way, (like changing logins, posting less, etc), thanks.

Re: Disabling the Like feature at TTD

Found one without the heart:
http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...d.php?t=158978

I looked at at least another dozen show posts by this same member, Lobito, and none of them had the heart. According to the "TTD Likes" tab on his profile, he hasn't received a "Like" since November 2017, despite scores of uploads.

Are you guys sure there is no way to disable this feature? If not, is there an explanation as to why he can and I can't?

Unless there is a question for me to answer, and outside of a "thanks" if my question(s) are answered, that's the last I have on this topic. It's more curiosity than anything else at this point, so I ain't going to hammer away at it.

nobody wants that.

I can't figure it out, I'm the staff who's good with wav editor. do you have a show with a staticky distortion part that's really annoying? I'm really good at fixing stuff like that.

Lynne maintains the board but I can't see her taking a fast interest in this problem, at least not during global lockdown.

the best hope is to make this the most liked post on ttd.

would it helped if ppl liked your other posts, so that your stalker's name gets buried in the list?

and guys, keep it family friendly pls this is TB forum.

Re: Disabling the Like feature at TTD

Someone else mentioned that the like button helps him by marking downloaded torrents. This is an excellent tool, because the list of recent downloads prunes itself often.

Re: Disabling the Like feature at TTD

The user Lobito is in a different usergroup than most people on this board and that usergroup seems to not allow anyone to Like his posts.

You also cannot Like posts that are older than a year old or posts that are in a thread that was closed more than 30 days ago.

There isn't a way for users to turn off the Like system.

Re: Disabling the Like feature at TTD

Is there any way to be put into the same usergroup as loibito, whatever a user group is?

I do not think you want that. Besides, he sees all the likes, he just can't do a like or have anyone like his posts.

thanks, Lynne. I was wondering about that.

I click and it tells me 'you are not allowed to like this post' .. but I like the post and I can't help it, that's my opinion.

phpbb never spoke to me like this!
