dvd9 questions....

seems like more people are starting to us dvd9s now....few questions are...
anyone find a decent price for them..went to office max and staples and they seemed pretty high there..25 pack for $35-40...and how does sony dvd arch3 work with dvd9s...i have never used them yet but seems like the best route to keep the bitrates up there...is there a big difference between a show rendered at 7,000 vs. a show rendered at 8,200...??..guess that is my main concern about spending the extra money..is there that big of a difference of quality with shows that run alittle over an hour...render at 7000 or render at 8,200..

Re: dvd9 questions....

You may want to try Micro Center. I've seen 20 packs for around $25 - 27 and they were Verbatim made in Singapore discs. These are considered the best.

The bitrate won't much matter at either 7000 or 8200kbps if the source is no good.

If you don't want to spend extra for DL discs, give DVD-Rebuilder a try. There is a free version available and it gives great results with "HC Encoder" built-in. For just over an hour shows, you probably won't see much difference if any at all. I make my deciding factor on whether to use a dual layer disc based on how important the video is to me.

Re: dvd9 questions....

I usually buy Verbatim DL's from NewEgg. No problems from them, ever.

Sam's Club and Costco sometimes have good prices on them. Try to get the "made in Singapore" Verbatim DL +R's
