Please help! Loss of connection when using Azureus

Hi all. I’m new to this forum and also quite new to Azureus. I installed it a few weeks ago and all was fine. Could download loads at a time and was quite quick too. Yesterday, after starting Azureus my internet connection was lost after about 2-5 mins of downloading. I have done what it said to do on wiki but still having the same problem. Any ideas? Thanks, Tony.

Perhaps it is your router. When I had a linksys router, it would cut me off if I was downloading/uploading at max. So, you could try capping your upload and download so you never completely max out your connection. You could also do a firmware update on your router to make sure it is up-to-date.

I had similar symptoms when my cable modem was going bad. It would drop my torrent connection over night constantly.... or after a few hours. It was random. They replaced the modem and it was all good.

I had the same problem with my cable modem. As soon as I replaced it, all was good except I'm having difficulty connecting to peers. I'm not firewalled, and a test of the ports comes back OK.

Re: Please help! Loss of connection when using Azureus

You could try limiting the number of peer connections per torrent to 20 or 30, that is what finally worked for me when my connection used to drop all the time. Also limit the number of torrents running at once to 2, 3, or 4. My connection used to drop running Azureus, so I switched back to Bittornado 3.18, which has encryption. Also use a port between 50,000 and 60,000. The default ports are known to be used for bittorrent by ISPs so they throttle them.
