Question CD label artwork for bootlegs?

Hi there...

Just curious to know if anyone's aware of any online bootleg artwork archives anyplace (to use for creating CD inlays and stickers, etc)....I've found a few sites here and there, but a lot of the links are inactive.

Thanks!

Most of them go by band, and do move about quite a bit. Btw. would avoid putting labels on your CD's - that can casue them to develop a fault.

Really? I had never heard that before. What kind of fault can labels cause? Just curious, thanks...

Re: CD label artwork for bootlegs?

I had this problem myself. The CD label heated up when it got played and it was bending the disc. I used EAC to extract one track at the time, and then let the disc cool for a day. Mind you, this was a CD burned in 1999 and probably quite cheaply.

used CD labels back in the 90's - its a sticker & stickers dont last
-warpage
-glue issues on edges
- there is a top coating on CDs/DVD's (the writable surface)
on a few discs the sticker pulled the entire coating off the discs
(these discs were 10yrs oldish - so it kills the shelf life of the disc)

to make your discs 'pretty' - thermal printers are cheap ($100ish)
it might be the only way to go

Re: CD label artwork for bootlegs?

thanks for the info guys....wish I knew this before I went through and burned all my lossless downloads onto CDs (including printed labels on the CDs).

I'm burning them onto the gold archival-quality discs, not your typical CDRs. Will the labels damage them as well? I was told that the gold archive CDRs are much more durable and of higher quality. THanks.

Won't the labels 'catch' on some players, like car and portable players, or laptops? When the disc is spinning, the label might rub against the top of the housing? I think I have heard of this happening.

Re: CD label artwork for bootlegs?

I used to put stickers onto cds and dvds myself, always not giving a care to what others were saying about developing a fault. They look real nice and professionaly done I thaught, that is until they started to skip! It is true they do develop faults, maybe not all the time, but surely it's best to be safer than sorry. I did find a way to peel off the labels by putting the disc in warm water then slowly scraping it off, they tend to work fine after that. But mostly it works fine for dvds, but not for cds as most of the time they remain ruined!
There are label peeler sprays on the market nowadays maybe they can be a better help.
regards...

Re: CD label artwork for bootlegs?

For the audio CD's I would really try to use EAC to extract or trade for a new disc. What disc you use for back up doesn't make much of a difference. I would read up on CD-r faq: http://www.cdrfaq.org/faq07.html#S7-7

Re: CD label artwork for bootlegs?

Hello I use the following
Taiyo Yuden WaterShield White Inkjet Hub Printable CDRs - 52X, 700MB/80 Min
also i have a thermal printer much like this - http://store.mediasolutionse.com/mer...gory_Code=CDPM

The one i would love to have is this one:
http://www.summationtechnology.com/r...verest-iii.htm
those are between 100 for one color up to $5000.00 for multi color. depends how serious you are.

the Taiyo Yuden are very good and use high gloss paper on their cd's. http://www.neato.com/CD-DVD-Media/ta...k/default.aspx

To print on these you need to have a cd tray for your printer - i do not know what your situation is. i hope this helped a bit.
