Yeah you right. Thanks

Another question (will it ever end?)

For some reason I'm picking up NPR through the computer. It just starts out of nowhere. I thought it might be this firefox extension (although I don't know why) so I got rid of it (I think) but NPR keeps coming on. If I log out or restart it shuts off but comes back eventually. I turned airport off but it still came on. I'm gonna pay closer attention to see if I can pinpoint when it actually begins. So has anyone seen something like this before?

Go to System Preferences > Accounts, select your name, then Login items and see if the application it listed there.

(Glad you figured out it was Peer Guardian.)

There was "itunes helper" and "system events." I removed itunes helper. Hopefully that is it.

Thanks again Lynne.

I wouldn't be too sure . I presume you haven't subscribed to any NPR related podcasts in iTunes ?

No I haven't. It hasn't happened again but I can't be exactly sure why. I uniinstalled the extension and restarted but it played again after a while. It hadn't played before removing the itunes helper and hasn't played since.

Well, like I said:

Jam is the bomb. I'm a fan. And I can convert flac files for the occasion when I burn audio. Doesn't take long.

Speaking of the Roxio products, has anyone made DVD-video from DV-cassettes with Toast? That's possible, no? I've thought about doing that with a silly little short film I made.

Noticed the outlook question. You can try Entourage - it gives you the ability to check multiple accounts. Outlook for Mac is only for OS 9 and OS X .2.

Re: New to imac. Looking for a little advice

Entourage is the way to go. Outlook was great when I had my pc, but Entourage seems to work great on the mac. I think Outlooks "contacts" is much better than entourages IMHO.

The culprit was a widget-"rabbit radio." For some reason it would start up on its own.

I'm finding out the Mac platform does not support Java? Well, there goes my online poker habit.

Sure it does, how do you think I could get Azureus to run if it didn't?

Re: New to imac. Looking for a little advice

Hmmm, I've gone into chat rooms that are java-based and been fine and I can run the games on yahoo games that are java-based just fine. But, I have found that sometimes I hit a site that says it has java and it won't always run. I can hit it on a later date and be fine, then hit it again and get told I don't have the right stuff.

Re: New to imac. Looking for a little advice

I'm finding some of the site I visited with the PC, are now unavailable with mac. Not the sites persay but the applications used for online gambling.

MSNBC'c web site requires that I download IE in order to view their news videos. WTF?

How does VirtualPC run..anyone familiar with the program?
