Question New to Uploading my own collection

if someone could help me out with the simple basics of this process. I have a lot of audio shows that I'm sure could be helpful. And what is the rules on official releases of SBD offered by the band???

Re: New to Uploading my own collection

Official releases are not allowed to be torrented here.

As for the actual nuts and bolts of how to post a show (assuming it meets our seeding guidelines), it's pretty easy...

You basically use a program to create the .torrent file. A lot of the clients that people use to download torrents will make the .torrent file too - I happen to use Azureus and it's a breeze.

Then, you just make a new post in the ABT forum and fill the form out.

Re: New to Uploading my own collection

Don't forget about proper names for the folder that contains the show files, .txt file with show info, flac fingerprints and or .md5 file.

'LZ' is not okay.

'Led Zeppelin 1975-Feb-12' is just fine.

Remember not everyone uses your date system. Europe does dd-mm-yyyy, most of North America does mm-dd-yyyy. yyyy-June-dd is not confused by anyone.

And use the same naming convention for the actual files if you don't name them d01t01-songtitle.flac

LZ-1975-Feb-12_d01_t01-Whole Lotta Love.flac

is another option.

Re: New to Uploading my own collection

okay but more like

(folder)
lz1975-02-12.flac16

tracks like this...

lz1975-02-12d1t01.flac
lz1975-02-12d1t02.flac
etc
lz1975-02-12d2t01.flac
lz1975-02-12d2t02.flac
etc

add the song titles using tags

recommended .st5 and/or .ffp but not .md5 for audio (usually)

my $0.02

Proper lineage is also important. Do you know the lineage of these audio shows.....or even better do you have the original FLAC or SHN files that they originated from? If your answer to these questions is "no" then this probably isn't the place to be seeding those particular shows.

If you need help converting your .WAV or .AIFF files that is another issue altogether and annotating what ever conversion you do to the files is very important....as are generating md5 files before and after converting (just to be sure that there is no mistake in the conversion).

Re: New to Uploading my own collection

Yeah, but I just saw Five's post and I'm wondering why a mod would advocate a date convention that could easily confuse a large number of people.
