Questions about repairing audio...

So I've decided it's time to learn how to remaster for my own use. I've got a few shows that could use some help with the vocals being "lost" in the mix. I've included a 30 second mp3 sample so you can hear what I mean. Is there anyway to make the vocals more prominent and if so what are some good programs to do that? I've already got audacity which I've only used for track splitting but I'm unsure of how well that will do the job.

Any help will be most appreciated.

Yeah, sure, because, soundmen just LOVE hundreds of random geniuses coming up to them during a show to tell them how shitty they're doing their jobs...

Not much you can do with technology at the moment to fix a poorly recorded mix. I'd say use some EQ to try and zero in on the frequencies in the vocals , but that's not really gonna do it...

Short of asking the soundman to mix it better, maybe focusing on getting a better recording by being in a better spot in the hall to capture the sound with a more balanced mix is the only solution...

I should of said this isn't my recording, it's a demo from 1982.

Re: Questions about repairing audio...

in this case, its highly unlikely you'll get any more vocals out of the tape. the overall sound could be cleaned up a bit but that's about all.
