Confused Newb trying to use Bit Torrent

So I downloaded the Hampton 11-20-98 video torrent which I thought I knew how to use. the Red Rocks was a cinch. However its is a totally different format which I cant figure out how to convert to a usable file.

The file is phish.11.20.98.snp.aud.NTSC.torrent

I know I have to get it to a dvd format so I can watch it on my pc. I know I have to shrink it to put it onto a disk.

How do I convert a torrent file to a DVD file I can use in DVD shrink?

I admit. I never shoulve taken this task on but the red rocks dvds were so easy.

How many files were included in the torrent?
How may files were actually downloaded?
Can you see any files with a .VOB extension?
How long did it take you to download the DVD?

I'm assuming you downloaded this torrent: http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...ad.php?t=35176

This is already in the proper DVD format. You do not need to convert anything. Just burn it to disc (3 discs actually) using your regular DVD burning software.

I am currently seeding the file and have 1 peer. Does this make a difference?

Re: Confused Newb trying to use Bit Torrent

Ok, it sounds like you've fully downloaded the DVD (since it took you 5 days to download and the fact you're seeding). You're just not looking in the correct folder on your hard drive.

Do you know how to search for files located on your computer?
Do a search for the following files:
Phish.11.20.98.snp.aud.txt
or
VTS_01_1.VOB

Once you find where these files are located, you'll know where the DVD is stored.

Re: Confused Newb trying to use Bit Torrent

your files obviously d/led to a location on yer comp different from where the .torrent file is...either check the defautl d/l location in yer bt client's preferences, or search yer comp for "Phish.11.20.98.snp.aud.NTSC"

edit: doh! ya beat me to it Daniel

Re: Confused Newb trying to use Bit Torrent

Here's another way to find where you have downloaded the DVD...

In your BitTorrent client, "right click" on the Phish torrent and then select "Open Containing Folder..."

You will then be taken to where the DVD is located..

Here's a screen shot...
