not sure if it'll code to mp3, but for anything having to do with trading lossless shows, xACT is all you'll need...check the link that Five posted above, or search for it on versiontracker

once the lossless files are in wav format, you can use iTunes to compress to mp3 [for *personal listening* of course]

xACT won't do anything regarding mp3. Scott decided he wanted to keep his program for just lossless conversion.

So, you can use xACT to convert to wav and then iTunes to convert to mp3 as Aaron suggested.

Re: Any reliable FLAC -> MP3 converters for OS X?

If you must convert lossless to lossy, maybe for one of they Pod thingies, I'd suggest going to AAC instead. If you go down that route you can use flaac, also coded by xACT's very own Scott and available from the Files section of <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xACT-users/>.

If it absolutely, positively HAS to be MP3, decode to AIFF/WAV first and then use <http://blacktree.com/apps/iTunes-LAME/>. Slower than iTunes's own MP3 encoder but a zillion times better.

Whatever you do, keep the original FLACs and DO NOT share your lossy encodings.
