The only thing I see missing from this is a note about the original source. Was it TV broadcast? Handheld camcorder from the audience? That should be included at the start of the lineage.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

My entire library is on my office computer. For security concerns , I've been asked to stop using BT!

Does that mean if I copy the flac/shn files to a cd-r to bring to my home computer that adds cd-r to the lineage and not torrentable on TTD???

No, creating data CDs or DVDs does NOT add anything to the lineage. Data discs have error correcting and checking built into them that forces files to be identical before the can be extracted. Audio CDs do not, and as such making one or extracting can cause an error, but the user will never know this has occured.

So, go ahead and burn your data discs. Double-check the checksums after you get them off the CDs, and as long as they are identical, your lineage remains the same.

I was sat on a table at the back of the room, next to the where the sound man was. So, there is a lot of audience noise, including the sound of people putting their glasses on the table in front of the mic! Luckily this is not too intrusive.

Hey Symon,

I must have somehow missed this post yesterday. Anyway, the information in your text file looks just fine.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Okay I got a question. I just received a show from a taper, and its an audio CD. Now, since I was at the show, I know that he was the only taper there and this is the only source available for this show. Is it okay for me to rip the audio tracks from the CDR and convert to FLAC, then seed it here? And would the lineage be SBD>CDR>EAC>FLAC?

Do I need to find out any other info from the taper such as what software or equipment he used?

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

I would put down for lineage:
SBD>??>CDR(1)*>EAC>FLAC

*CDR(1) is directly from the taper and may actually be CDR(M). The taper has only released this in audio format.

That would be a more acurate representation of the lineage, I believe (you can change my wording since I just couldn't come up with exactly the right words right now). And, it's always nice if you can get the software/equipment information/lineage from the taper. It just makes the lineage more complete.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

CDR(1) means it's a CDR copy of the original CDR. CDR(0) or CDR(M) represent master. If that's what you've got, please notate it as such.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Asked for more info as to recording equipment and such, and he sent me this for the lineage -

SBD > Tascam DA-P1 > DAT > Tascam CD-RW 700 > CD > Exact Audio Copy ( EAC ) > Hard Drive > Easy CD Creator 5 > CD.

I'll have to do another EAC extraction to pull the tracks off the disk he sent me. A little confused as to what the final lineage should be that I post with the show. Is the CD after the Tascam CD-RW 700 what I should note as CDR(0) or (M)? Or is it the final CD, the one he sent me, that I should note as CRD(0) or (M)? If so, what does that make the first CD? Again, this is a CD directly from the taper who was the only taper at this show.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Um yeah, if I could get an answer to the above post I'd probably post the show tonight.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Sorry Toys, I think I missed it...

SBD > Tascam DA-P1 > DAT > Tascam CD-RW 700 > CD(M) > Exact Audio Copy ( EAC ) > Hard Drive > Easy CD Creator 5 > CD(1)

That's how I would write it. And say that CD(1) was directly from the taper to you.
