Re: are these shots mp3??

Looks rather suspicious. Could you please check out the spectrum in CoolEdit / Audition or provide a short clip for us to look at?

Re: are these shots mp3??

not mp3 I do not think.

however, the view we're looking for in CEP is spectrum view. Press the top middle button on the bar above the diplay that switches it. I think 5 likes about a 2-3 sec view.

Re: are these shots mp3??

Looks lossy encoded (with an to me unknown codec). Notice the metallic sound most noticeable in the rather "silent" parts at the beginning and the end.
Also the white in the shot below is too clear (gamma value is 0.2). The blocks induced by the codec are finer than the ones of an mp3 but they are here.
What show is this?

MP3s have no inherent resolution, and whether the input or output file is 16 or 24 bit doesn't matter, mostly thanks to the quantization noise introduced by the encoder.

Additionally, both the ear model and the limitations that make mp3 so horribly inefficient at high-frequency content above 16kHz are just the same, no matter whether you're encoding a 44.1kHz or a 48kHz source.

So all in all, the sa "fingerprint" of a 48kHz "24bit" mp3 looks just like that of a 44.1kHz "16bit" mp3, only with slightly shorter blocks and "more nothing going on" at the top of the spectrum.
