Attachment file sizes

Is it possible to have size of mp3 attachments increased maybe to the same size as that of flac and shn attachments to 2.00 MB? It might promote more samples of recordings being posted in the audio torrent section if you increased the size limit and also allow for higher bitrates used to make the samples. Then again maybe it won't but I don't see it having any negative side effects by doing so.

Re: Attachment file sizes

Anything to promote samples is good in my book. 2.0MB would be plenty for an mp3.

Anyone looking to check the potential size of a sample can use this calculator (no download needed):

http://www.rvmsounds.com/calculator/

A 1 minute sample encoded at 256K comes out to 1.87MB. That's near CD quality as far as mp3's go, so it's as representative a sample as you'll get without posting lossless.

Re: Attachment file sizes

Whatever. Size limit hasn't stopped me from posting samples. All you need is 30 seconds or so within a song. I usually just use 64K mp3 and the size is no issue. All a bigger limit will allow is the ability to place a sizable sample at a much higher bitrate. If one really wanted to, one could even do it as flac now.

Re: Attachment file sizes

I agree. I usually post 3 30 second slices of different pieces.

Re: Attachment file sizes

i think it would help, but most people are lazy and unless it was a requirement, about the same as do now. Its about people's level of care i guess.
