Icon4 New release v2.3.0 (build 155) available

New build 155 is available (download here, or use TLH's build-in Check for update function).

Decoding of mp2 audio files (user requests because of DAB torrents) can be done now, and some bugs are ironed out (thanks to all who helped out to track down these). The procedure to bring the application window to front when shell integration or Drag & Drop is used (to pass a folder or files to TLH) was reworked so this now works in almost all cases with WinXP too (well, at least on my XP system). For more details please see the change log.

Don't know if this has already been answered since this thread is so long but I have Windows VISTA and I cannot decode any of my FLAC files. It keeps giving me error messages. Please help.

It's difficult to help if there's only little information ...

Which version of TLH do you use? (The latest release is v2.3.0.155. If you don't have it please upgrade.

Only if you are already running v2.3.0.155:
What error messages (exact wording) do you get? (There's a build-in function to create a screenshot of TLH that in many cases even works after an error occured. If you cannot access the Tools menu use <Shift><PrintScr>.) Did you change anything in TLH's installation folder after installing (replace a command-line application with another release, for example)?

I just looked again, as I remembered I was unable to find a donate page or link. Now that I have a paypal account I was trying to catch up on all these things.
Thanks Mike

Thanks very much for your efforts putting me on the list of the world's richest people ;-). But there is (and will be) no donate page or link for TLH.

Only a minor update for the Create torrent file sections so the unexperienced user is "forced" to save a .torrent file not in the directory it's for:

The option to exclude .db files from the file list of a multi-file torrent has been moved from the Create torrent file page to the Create torrent file section of the Preferences dialog. An option was added allowing to exclude .torrent files from the file list of a multi-file torrent. Additionally the default location to save a created .torrent file to was changed to the folder containing the source the .torrent file is for (i.e. the parent of the source folder if a multi-file torrent was created).

Re: Trader's Little Helper

EAC will rip a CD to a .wav file.

TLH will take these .wav files and encode them to .flac files.

I can't help thinking that I'd really like a combination of the two; is there any technical reason that there couldn't be a combination program that'll rip a CD and encode it to .flac in one pass .....?

Regards, Graham

You already have it - EAC is able to rip and encode in one pass.

Re: Trader's Little Helper

I must have missed something in the EAC menu options then; I haven't been able to persuade it to do anything but encode .wav; however, am I right in saying that EAC won't do the fingerprints, and I'll still need TLH to do them...?

Regards, Graham

Open EAC. Click the EAC menu and select Compression Options. Click the External Compression tab. Check the box Use external program for compression, change Parameter passing scheme to User Defined Encoder, change Use file extension to .flac, ...

Re: Trader's Little Helper

Hi Robert,
I've searched the thread but couldn't find anything regarding SBE checking/repair for 48/24 files. Using V2.2.2(build 152) I am I missing something? It will flac encode these files just fine.
TIA
Bob S.

Re: Trader's Little Helper

Is there any way to have all of the custom settings saved?

IE: when I encode WAV files to FLAC I use the same settings every time, but the are lost as soon as I close TLH
