I have this problem too. I'm not sure what the problem is but it has to do with the way the folder is named, I think. Sometimes my PC thinks the saved ffp file is a flac16 file, for example. If the folder name is longer gd1981-10-16.shure.senn.80060.sbeok.flac16, for example, I don't have that problem. If the folder was named gd1981-10-16.flac16 then I would have that problem.

So generating ffp works ... what's the *complete* path and file name?

What do you mean with comes up as unknown application and the "little green "ffp" is not there? Maybe you could attach a screenshot?

I think something changed, "it used to work". Did you update windows, or possably did it update itself? Is it possable to use system restore and go back to when it worked? The thing is I'm not sure doing that removes the windows updates, but if it does you can always put the udates back in one at a time.
Thanks Mike

TLH sometimes is not assingning the .ffp extension to the file. It is saving the .ffp or .md5 without the extension.

It saves them as .flac16, shnf, or .flac files depending on what is at the end of the folder name.

If you create a .ffp with TLH and this happens you can save the file and manually type in ".ffp" at the end of the file name when you save it and the PC will then recognize it as the correct file type.

As I said earlier it doesnt happen all of the time. It only occurs, for me, in situations similar to the one I mentioned above.

That occoured everytime with the new version[on xp media ed]....extensions were left off both md5sum & ffp for me...one of the reasons I'm still running 1.0.0 Beta 1(72) version.

I'm sure it will all get worked out by roann in the future

It is easy to see how I missed that. upgates is off post. I don't know if Microsoft can update itself, or not set up like that. I wouldn't put it past them. I've seen messages on my computer something like, windows has been updated and needs to re-start, or just finding the computer had been shut down when I get home.
Anyway, it still would seem something changed. Any new programs installed? How about running your spyware killers, or anti-virues programs? Aol or anything update it-self? I would know how to check, though.
Thanks Mike

Please do as follows:

1) Open Windows Explorer and select your Windows directory.
2) Right click on the file "shntool.exe", and choose "Properties".
3) Click the "Compatibility" tab, check the box beside "Run in compatibility mode", and choose "Windows 98 / Windows Me" in the dropbox. Let all other settings unchanged.
4) Click "Apply" and then click "OK" to close the box.
5) Run Trader's Little Helper and do some testing.

If it doesn't work, please undo the changes.

Robert

Re: Trader's Little Helper

I was converting shn to flac using TLH, I'd get a error
"skipping unknown sub-chunk "id3" '. I'd changed the name of two files, I'd get this error, when I put the orginal
names back everything was fine. Does this have to do with tags?
