Unhappy Back to the Newbie... Seeding question

It pains me to ask questions like this, but I need to get a handle on this problem before it gets out of hand...

Whenever I download a file using Azureus (or Bittornado for that matter), I have no problem downloading and uploading as long as the file is incomplete. I can connect to multiple peers and seeders and all is gravy. However, the second the download finishes and I start seeding, I can rarely connect to peers. Maybe a few here and there, but not even close to what its like when I'm downloading the incomplete file.

Obviously I feel bad being a leecher, and would graciously seed for a while if I had the ability to connect to more peers after finishing a file. I don't have a lot of bootlegged material, so I can't contribute much in the way of new torrents, but anything I can do to help others spread their torrents I'll do.

Any help on this would be great! Thanks!

Re: Back to the Newbie... Seeding question

I’m not 100% sure you have a problem.

Let’s say you start downloading a show and there are 50 people ahead of you. Let’s say they range from having 100% of the show to 50%. You have none, so, theoretically, you are leeching from all of them.

After you are at 100% it may be the case that only 10 more people, typically people who started downloading after you did, need the show. Only these 10 people will be connected to you.

So, you connected to 50 to get the show but once the majority of the “swarm” got the show you are only connected to the last few stragglers who came late to the game.

Sound plausible?

also, have you checked to see if you're firewalled? it could be that yer ports aren't forwarded properly.

Re: Back to the Newbie... Seeding question

Thanks a lot, I'll look into it.

I'm not entirely sure that's it. After I receive 100% of the show, it is difficult for me to connect to new Leechers. Consequently, I can rarely connect to new leechers once I start seeding. Thus freezing my share ratio with what I had uploaded previous to registering 100% of the download...
