Question Using Bit Torrent for private transfers: How do you do it?

I am trying to get a file from a friend that is approx 4 gb. Supoosedly there is a way to use BT privately to transfer from one computer to another but we can't seem to get it to work.

We are both mac users, I am using the latest version of Transmission, and the other person is using some iteration of Bit Torrent. (Probably current)

Can some kind person shed some light on what we are doing wrong, or suggest some other way to get the files. Neither of us have a private FTP or anything like that.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dave

Try uTorrent for Mac.

I'm no mac user but I believe Vuze or azureus has a built-in tracker too.

Here's the wiki on how to do this in Azureus (Vuze).

http://wiki.vuze.com/w/UG_Tracker

I've never tried it, but in theory, it should work.
