Unhappy External H/D won't turn on

I have this 250 GB Magic external and it won't fully start up and turn on.

This has happened before but it worked after trying a few times. I've tried quite a few times and it just won't start. It makes noise as if it's about to start up and work, then stops. Any suggestions?

Ok, I just tried another 5 or 6 times (total about 30) and it worked. There must be something wrong though, what should I do?

Might be the enclosure. Consider buying a new enclosure and transferring that drive over to the new one. Do a chkdsk on that drive before you waste your time.

Yeah, that was the best idea I could come up with as well. It might have to be what I do.

Re: External H/D won't turn on

Luckily, I archived a bunch of stuff on the weekend, so if it craps out before I get a new one, I won't lose much.
