Burning Issues

Hey guys, quick question that I wonder if any of you have experienced.

Of the last 6 DVD's I've DL'd, I've only been able to get successful burns out of 2 of them. The remaining shows have burnt to about 90%, then I get an error message from Nero that reads:

11:25:48 AM #30 SCSI -1135 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1445
SCSI Exec, HA 2, TA 0, LUN 0, buffer 0x0AC70000

TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)

Sense Code: 0x0C

11:25:48 AM #31 CDR -1135 File Writer.cpp, Line 304
Write error
There is more, but I'm assuming this is the descriptions of the errors that occur...
Is it faulty discs, my drive failing, bad luck, bad files...... Thanks in advance..

Re: Burning Issues

Well what DVDs in particular are you talking about?

Not sure what those erors mean but you might want to try slowing down your burn speed to 4x. Also, use quality media like Taiyo Yuden. And perhaps switch to ONES burning software.

Re: Burning Issues

The DVD's I grabbed off of DIME, they are:

GnR 4-6-92 D1
GnR 4-9-92 D2
Muse 8-26-02 - That one burnt fine
Perfect Circle 9-11-00 - That one failed Md5 but burnt & plays perfectly
Gov't Mule 9-5-06
and a Ben Folds 5 DVD that I've already erased after killing 3 discs trying to burn

I'm using Verbatim discs, and when I've tried slowing my burn speed down to 4x, the errors occur earlier in the process.

Thanks for the advice on ONES. I used a free trial of it in the past & it is a great piece of software, I need to get that registered. I'll try that & repost w/ any progress...

KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR

I'm not a pro at reading these crazy error reports, but that sticks out at me. Maybe you got a shitty batch of blanks. See if you can grab another batch from the store and try those.

Another thing is to make sure that you have plenty of empty space on your hard drive. If you're running on the edge of being full, that will impact your burning performance.

Re: Burning Issues

Personally, I think Verbatim's are shit. You can get good media for the same price, delivered right to your door, usually with free shipping if you look around. Try supermediastore.com or americandigital.com and get yourself some TYs.

Re: Burning Issues

I went through a whole spindle of 100 Verbatim's w/o issue. This one has been about a 50% shot. I never had a problem w/ VB CDR's, or DVDR's until now. I'll check out that site fo' sho' though smyth. Thanks for the help guys

FYI, I DL'd the full version of ONES last night & got a burning error at around 90% again last night w/ one of the GnR shows. I JUST tried the Gov't Mule and I got this error.

Input: ERR:28 - Operation Aborted
TARGET: (F ERR:03-0C-00 Cmd: 2a - Write Error

Re: Burning Issues

Have you tried burning the image of a DVD to a file and see if that works? If t works then try burning the DVD image to the disc and see what happens. That might help isolate the problem. That's what I did when my burner died, it was how I isolated the problem.

Re: Burning Issues

I would try to "get ready" the DVD files with Shrink first, it will analyze the stuff to see if it's ok and will do like an exact copy of the suff ready to be burnt properly and with no errors with Nero. But be sure you have space enough in your comp, if you're gonna make an exact copy of the files and the stuff is 4 gigs sized (an example), you need 4 free Gigs in your HD.
I always do a copy with Shrink, as it "cleans" some Region Code or something the stuff might have. I got a DVD from Dime once and, after burning it, couldn't see it with my DVD Home player cos it was encoded for region II or whatever (USA and Canada, I think), so I had to clean that shit with Shrink.
But one DVD spoiled...

You can d/l Shrink for free. Info here:

Re: Burning Issues

davidsss thanks for that knowledge. I've done the Gov't Mule & Disc 1 of a GnR show that way and they have both worked perfectly (Still w/ the VB discs, I did switch to ONES though). It obviously takes a little bit longer to do an image 1st, but it's worth not throwing away 1/2 a spindle.

Guys, seriously, thanks for the help, it's good to post a question and not get called a retard by 10 A-Holes on a site. Kind of refreshing.

Re: Burning Issues

I would like to ask you about that Gov't Mule DVD. First of all, they didn't play 9/5/06, so you must have the date wrong. And DIME doesn't allow Mule video, so my question is - where did you get it?
