Some more followup, this is a PM from a friend I know from a different forum, who just ran into this problem, (name withheld, they know who they are if they wanna step in on this thread.)
Comcast cut off access w/o notice, on a friday (so no access all weekend, of course! bastods..) I'd make them give me a free month at the higher bandwidth rate for doing that! :P
Their response is instructive of how to handle comcast's abuse dept, so I wanted to share it:
