Most radio stations which broadcast by a satellite use MP2 compression, and some AC3. It's the same as you would record a show from TV.

MP2 320 kbps is the highest quality file - depends on station but it can be / may sound better than an FM recorded on a standard tape.

Dime accepts MP2 format, but unfortunately it also allows it to be converted and seeded as flac (converted to wav/aiff).
