You can pay your ISP more money so you get higher upload speeds.

But, if you don't want to pay, I've found the best way to utilize my upload power is to only select a couple of torrents that 'need' me to seed for them. That way they want to use my upload speed. If I jump on a torrent with lots of seeds and only a few leechers, then I'm not very needed and so some of my upload goes unused. Every night before bed I select a couple of torrents just to seed and it really helps my ratio (not just here, but at all the sites I download at).
