When I was on this mailing list (it was my first introduction to electronic music trading, before bit torrent -- heck, before mp3), operators of various sites would occasionally send out login information for their servers. Usually they had limited hours of availability and very few logins allowed, making it rather difficult to actually get on and download shows.

If this is the same setup, I would imagine most traders have moved on to other methods, and there is little ftp traffic now. That may be part of the problem. If the list has archives, you can check how frequently postings have been lately.
