What's the name of the process (ctrl-alt-delete) that won't shut down?
What's the name of the program that won't shut down - the one mentioned in the "Trying to end program" message?
Think carefully. Is there any software you've installed or uninstalled since this delay started?
How about any hardware installed or removed? Not likely the problem, but you never know.
