Talking Great jazz show -- will you check my prep?

Howdy:

I'm fairly new to recording live gigs. I've got a growing list of mini-equipment as well as some computer based gear. I captured a Cold Blood/Sons of Champlin show recently in Portland on an Edirol R-1. I attended a classical chamber music workshop in Oregon recently and captured all of our concerts using AT-853 mics > Visivox pre > Sony MD-MZ-N505. Great theater, and consequently, great sounding recordings, even if ATRAC compression. Very recently, I captured a [hot] jazz show using Visivox binaural > Visivox pre > iRiver IFP-899. I used the iRiver because I had sold my Edirol R-1 and had not yet received my R-09 (which I now have). Better compressed than not at all, and I thought mp3 at 320 kbps would be better than ATRAC.

I realize that recordings made with compression are frowned upon or banned here, and I suspect that the recording may not be trade-friendly. That said, this was a show of jazz greats that ought to be heard.

So if this is not suitable for torrenting, I would nonetheless like to get comments on all other aspects of my preparation of the material. If you would be willing to check out the overall preparation and provide feedback, contact me privately and I can arrange an ftp download.

Alternatively, if anyone thinks there is any life to torrenting this here or elsewhere, I would appreciate knowing that as well.

Visivox Technologies SCM-K > Visivox Technologies SCM-PRE > iRiver IFP-899 @ 320 kbps mp3 > Audacity (.wav conversion, normalization, fades) > CDWave > NeroExpress > CD

Visivox Technologies SCM-K > Visivox Technologies SCM-PRE > iRiver IFP-899 @ 320 kbps mp3 > Audacity (.wav conversion, normalization, fades) > CDWave > FLAC (level 8)

Note: There are two or three moments of clipping/distortion. IMHO not fatal to value of entire show.
