Need help for Mac burning/image creating

I've gotten good help in the past regarding getting the DVDs burned after downloading finished. Lately seem to have been stuck. Could be just the drive I'm using (PowerBook G4, several years old) but maybe something else. Details:

Like I said, machine is a PowerBook G4. Downloading files to external HD just fine.

Then I use DVD IMAGER (I'm operating on Mac OS 10.5) to create the disk image. I drag the VIDEO_TS folder onto the spot where you're supposed, and have it set to Disc Copy mode. Is this correct so far? Sometimes it has the AUDIO_TS folder and EXTRAS_TS folder but sometimes not. I create the AUDIO_TS one manually though.

Then I open up Disk Utility and click burn and use the appropriate DVD - for the past couple I've needed a Dual Layer DVD. And this is where it fails.... I haven't gotten a succesful burn in a long time. Specifically, I've gone through at least 10 Dual Layer DVDs and the burn always fails. I KNOW these are really touchy, so maybe I'm doing everything right, but maybe there's something I could be fixing myself. (When doing the burn, I have NO other applications running, don't touch anything, and have the energy settings set to custom so there's NO shift of anything on my computer). I'm hoping to get a new computer in a couple months w/ 10.6 and obviously a new HD but I'd love to get these burned now.

Does anyone notice anything I'm doing wrong? If I bought Toast to use instead of Disk Utility does that have a better success rate for burning?

THANKS! And if this needs to be posted somewhere else, let me know.
