and I think VLC has all of those controls you mentioned above , oz , depending on how the user opts to set up the GUI....I haven't used it in a long time...just keep the .exe around for a situation where I might need it....

There yuh go.
Both are good enough for us average users. I use Jet mostly for burnings & shn/flac conversions.
Although it will play audio/vid files WM won't recognize.
