"A friend of mine" recieved a dvd that plays Ok on a computer but does not play OK on a DVD player. When played on a DVD player the video has "horizontal hold" problems.

I assume this means the original DVD had some form of copy protection and the person who copied it just did a disk copy instead of a "rip & burn" method to strip the copy protection.

Is my assumption correct ? Can I correct this without the original DVD ?

I tried using DVDFab Decrypter on the DVD, but the copy it generated has the same problem.

Also is the DVD PAL or NTSC??
Thanks for any suggestions or info..

Run it through a program called IFOedit and see if the video properties match what a standalone dvd is.
