EDIT: after further testing...
ameyer17@vodka:~$ touch myself (creates empty file named myself)
ameyer17@vodka:~$ md5sum -b myself (creates a checksum of myself in binary mode)
d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e *myself

So, what you have shown is that the checksum of an empty file is the same as the checksum of the last four vobs on the DVD the OP has. Thanks for doing the test and providing the info! I would never have thought to do that test.
