I did a couple of tests. Here are the results.
a) flac 1.1.2 (used by FLAC Frontend) is not capable to detect a zero-ed flac fingerprint in the file's header (or just ignores such a fingerprint). So if there will be no other error detected testing/decoding will be done without any error message.
b) flac 1.2.1 (used by TLH) is capable to detect a zero-ed flac fingerprint in the file's header and will show an error message when testing/decoding such a file.
c) If this "fingerprint error" is the only error you can decode the flac file with TLH using the option "Decode through errors". You'll get a successfully decoded file but you cannot be sure whether the decoded audio data matches the original wav data before it was flac-ed.
