I have lost sound on video playback on my PC (Windows Vista Home Premium edition)- it effects dvds (but only *some* dvds, strangely) and YouTube.
I gather that this may be some codec issue- but am loathe to start messing around with codec settings etc in case my audio settings are effected.
Any ideas on how to address this issue?
Thanks,

I have a similar problem, only on an XP SP3 machine. Ocassionally, while watching movies thru either VLC or Media Player Classic, the audio goes out. When this happens I check my Foobar player to see if any audio works there. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Sometimes, I only need to restart the player, but often it requires a reboot.
