If you use static background in DLP, menu is not as sharp as for example rendered by TDA - links are more blurred. When you use a video as the background all stuff over it becomes terribly jagged.
Encore is opposite: it has great menu design options and rendering quality but unfortunately it very often forces video re-encoding, and doesn't accept MP2 audio which is basic format of the European DVB broadcasts.
DVD Maestro is the best but it no longer can be bought, and requires a patch to accept some non DVD standard DVB streams (i.e. 544x576).
If you don't need secondary audio, 16:9 menus, and subtitles then stay with TDA 1.6.
