Sorry, I thought mentioning that the helper programs were out of date was info enough.
For instance, with .flac encoded 5.1 LPCM Surround Sound Mix (48k) TLH reports that .flac "is not supported." TLH also reports "No errors occured." (sic).
TLH will create a valid .ffp checksum. It will not verify the .ffp. Verifying with up to date files works fine. I believe that metaflac.exe is the helper program that is the issue. I don't have time to check right now.

Thanks for the details! metaflac.exe isn't involved in verifying .ffp files. It's shntool.exe (no matter what release) that cannot handle this format...
