so the canon camera i picked up records in 1080. brilliant! but it does it in quicktime. so i want to convert it to wmv and/or make it dvd ready.

i tried it with windows live movie maker, but i cant say i was 100% satisfied with the end result. it seems like it may have slightly compressed it.

on top of it, i need to swap the audio (16bit r9 sourced) which shouldnt be hard.

any really good free ware out there?

thanks

Nowadays most dvd authoring programs will let you add a mov as a source file without problems, so why the extra conversion to wmv?
MOV(H.264 or MPEG4)>WMV>DVD(MPEG2).

Why not use MKVToolnix (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MKVtoolnix) and use this to demux the mov, add the extra audio/chapters etc and create a mkv?

Do yourself a favour and re-encode that with DVD Shrink (free) or similar to DVD - that's my opinion.
Or, follow this guide (http://www.ilikemall.com/convert/burn-mov-to-dvd.html) to finish the task.

I've got the same problem as chinajoe, but it's with both my current camera and my last one (why do so many camera brands use Quicktime?). I've shot a lot of video, but since they're .mov files it's hard to find programs to work with them. What I want to do is to join the videos that I shot with the audio recordings that I've made. Is that possible? Or would it be too much of a pain to deal with?

http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/taw5.html will let you import native MOV files, like many other recent authoring programs.
