how fast should I be DLing files off the net on a wireless DSL connection?

it says in my connection that I'm at 54mbps, but sometimes it fluctuates to as little as 24-36mbps

so I guess my questions are, what shoudl m connection speed be? and how fast should I be DLing a file, in terms of kbps?

thanks all :)

DSL is like, slow... if you see 54, you're doing well.

You can do a Speed Test (http://www.dslreports.com/stest) and find out what to expect. (If you dont' like that link, just Google "DSL Speed Test")

The speed you're seeing as 54Mb/sec. is the speed your home netowrk is getting, not nearly the speed you're downloading at. It's the speed between your WAP and your computer. Do the test Lynne suggested to get an idea, but keep in mind those online tests are subject to many variables and they can only give you your speed at that particular instant that you do the test.

If you want to know the maximum you're capable of downloading/uploading, contact your ISP or look on their web site.
