Random torrents seem to just lock up and refuse to send or receive.

Several times I have tried to seed a torrent for someone and it just hangs there.

Tried making sure that it was the only torrent running and still nothing.

I have also run into the problem as a leecher. Several users have tried to help me by seeding one but no luck.

Most torrents I don't seem to have a problem with.

Anyway, sorry if it is a newbie question. Have been absent from bootleg bit torrent community for about 10 years and just started back up a week ago.

Thanx

Looking at your torrent stats, our tracker has registered you as being firewalled. Reading this section might solve your issues: My port number is in red in the Peers List. What does this mean? (http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/faq.php?faq=bittorrent#faq_port_forwarding)

Thanx.

Yeah, I have been fighting with that section of the faq.

I am pretty sure the firewall has been turned off, but canyouseeme.org says otherwise.

I have run the portforward program from their website but that didn't seem to do anything.

I would think if it was the firewall it would be consistent, though.

And it also seems to affect other users (some listed as firewalled and some not) when they have tried to seed these torrents also to help out the same leechers i have and have been stonewalled.

Another note: I am using two different computers. I have tried the torrents on both of them.

I have to do work on the old slow XP computer (the portforward was unsuccessful on that one) so I moved everything to the new Win 7 computer.

Okay. I think I have got it figured out (or at least stumbled on it through dumb luck).

I accessed my router and fiddled with the port forwarding there. One of the torrents I wanted to download seemed to start working again.

Hopefully that was it. Fingers crossed.

Our tracker says you aren'r firewalled anymore, but sometimes it's wrong so more important is canyouseeme.org. If that site can see you, you are okay.

Thanks. Yeah, I found a Youtube video that helped me with the portforwarding.

The instructions from the Portfoward.com website itself kind of left me hanging with the router I had.

Also, I still had some problems trying to help seed others afterward but I think it might be on their end.
