Hey now!

Have any of you experienced any problems with the most recent versions of uTorrent? Apparently there's a few bugs in the newer versions of it. Another site I'm on has banned the use of newer versions for now.

μTorrent 3.1 Issues

Due to a serious bug in μTorrent 3.1 that causes it not to ban peers sending bad data, we have been forced to remove it from our client whitelist. We're sorry for the inconvenience. For those needing to downgrade, older versions can be found here (http://filehippo.com/download_utorrent/9859/) (version 2.2.1 is by far the most reliable). Remember to back up your μTorrent appdata folder before downgrading!

Any ideas? Any problems here? Wondering if we should do the same?

Yes, I had issues with the last two releases. I then thought I deleted the updates, but instead deleted the entire program.

I re-downloaded it and installed it, it seems to be working fine now.

The issues I had were speed. The download speed would slow to a crawl, like 20 kbps. I would close utorrent and open it again and the speed would pick up again and then slow down again. At other times I had a difficult time re-opening the program after closing it.

The new one seems to be OK

I don't know if I got the latest version or not. If you google, you can find older versions of it.

From the Utorrent Forum:
This is a quick beta to solve a few peer banning and hashfail problems present in version 3.1. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience.
This version is built off 3.1 instead of 3.1.1. We will re-release 3.1.1 later with a higher version number.

I use uTorrent v.2.2.1, and if I click on the 'Check for updates' under the 'Help' menu all I get is a message saying "There is no new version available at this time."

Has uTorrent blocked updates until this bug gets fixed?

I tried the latest version and ran into shit as well. Someone recommended me version 2.2.1 as the last "good" version of uTorrent. I grabbed it from the archive and it works wonderful for me...no problems since.

Yes, I've been doing mostly great with 2.2.1 build 25273 for a while now, except when I had a power failure that corrupted my torrent file data and I lost all the torrent files I was seeding! D'oh!!

ive found 3.3.1 (latest version) to be excellent with public trackers/DHT/Local Peers. never had an issue with private trackers

uTorrent is a crap bloatware. Use Deluge.

Utorrent (latest 3.3.2) shows that it's seeding torrents that I've downloaded here, but it won't actually upload anything to any peers. Other torrents from other sites will upload fine. I've Googled this several times and checked some things, to no avail.

Any suggestions?

I see no leechers on any of the torrents you are shown as active on. Without leechers, you won't upload anything.

I'll admit I'm a dumba$$ when it comes to torrents, but why does it say "Seeding"? I assume that's a default configuration when a download is complete. You're right, there's no peers showing, I just thought that something was broken since it said it was seeding.

I'd like to get my ratio up here, but can't seem to get it going.

Go leave a thanks at the torrents you're trying to seed. That will "bump" those torrents to the top of the page, and usually will stir up some interest.

Ok. I'll bump them.

And thanks for your seeding efforts. Although ratio is not enforced at TTD, it is still the nice way to play.

The faster you jump on a torrent, the faster your internet connection and the torrent's popularity will have a positive effect on the ratio. Also helps to have as few as possible simultanious downloads going. So check in often.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't have any downloads going though.
