I would guess you would need to first convert it to a plain text file. Then, um, I'd probably google it. :)

hmm, editing/convert *.doc > *.txt (with hypertext?). the problem are the dates, different places in the text ... no idea to handle it.
also a great problem is the original doc file (word97), at time 3.5MB, too big for word and a lot of work to be editig by hand
next time i install hypertext, will see what´s come up with this prog
other upcoming problem is the database, which is the best? have read some articles about html (sql) database, very nice, but more work with it

yeah, this shows to make it right by starting. next live and next collection i do it better

thanx lynne

Remove Word and download Open Office. From there your entries need to have a uniform structure to them. Your current list is not uniform in the way the dates are typed, venues, and some even have the source after them.

Example:
John McLaughlin - 2010-11-18 Potawatami Casino's, Milwaukee
John McLaughlin - Master Class- New Morning-95_12_13
John McLaughlin & One Truth Band - 1978 09 07 Berlin FM

Uniform:
John McLaughlin - 2010-11-18 - Potawatami Casino's - Milwaukee, WI
John McLaughlin - 1995-12-13 - Master Class - Unknown
John McLaughlin & One Truth Band - 1978-09-07 - FM Broadcast - Berlin, Germany

Once everything is uniform, you should be able to import it into a spreadsheet such as Excel or Calc in Open Office. Once it's in the spreadsheet, if you name the columns, you can sort the whole sheet by artist, date, venue, whatever you like.

Just rename the txt file csv or excel, whatever the extension for excel may be. It worked for me when I saved my TT list to text and renamed it csv, which is excel format with csv extension.

The problem I have is that I cannot import the csv list to dbetree.
