Can anyone suggest a free cd/dvd cover art program for creating....er artwork.Any suggestions greatly appreciated.:)

There are NO programs that will create artwork for you.
On the other hand there are programs that will give you the size format for the different cases available.

The one I use is called Pochette Express 2.

Were you actually asking about something like Photoshop that you can make the artwork up on ?

Are these free versions of Photoshop and are they any good? Better than irfanview?

The GIMP is comparable to Photoshop, but the Windoze version is a monster to load if you have all the plug-ins installed. If you install Python there are even more plug-ins. I use it, for free, yeah!

PE2 is a great little program. You can do pretty much any type of case design or you can create a custom size to your liking.
It's free and, though a French product, there is an English version.
