I'm trying since a couple of days too, and nothing. My list is on db.etree, but I traded with many people over there... I hope it's only temporary.

Thanks for the update. Glad its not just me!

Just being able to backup our lists will be a good start! I hope Michael finds a way.

I think TT is a great site and wouldn't mind donating a contribution to some paypal fund to help with costs.

I havent been messing with bootlegs for about four or five months, but a couple of days ago I went to tapetrader.com to look at my bootleg list and I cant get the site to come up. Did the site shut down? If it has Im really behind but can anyone confirm its closed? Also, does anyone else know another site where I can list my bootlegs like Tape Trader?

Thanks.

He needs to get a basic link up with his ID at Paypal, so we can send the man some donations.....you out there Peachy? I'm sure there are others willing to chip in a few bucks....if a few hundered people donated, we'd be back on track.

I'd rather he charged a small fee per year. Can't rely on donations.

$5 a year would cover most of his expenses if 500 people signed up.

My complete list is over at TapeTrader and like an idiot I've not exported a backup in about 2 years. Hope he finds a way to sort it...thousands of users on there and if just some of those donated I'm sure it would go a long way.

Hi -

This is the TapeTrader Admin.

The site is almost back up and running.

Your show lists etc. are all OK, but it will take us a little bit to dig ourselves out of the outage.

Thanks for your patience.

I emailed Peachey directly & suggested a small yearly fee to use the site and suggested that he also set up a Paypal acct temporarliy and ask for donations to help get the site back up. I'm sure he's a busy guy - but I got no response ?

You can email your list to yourself, in both colour and B & W. You do it every time you enter new shows, in case the site goes down again.

The B & W looks like this below. I tried to copy and paste the colour one too, but it came out B & W too.

"Artist" "Date" "Sets" "Media" "Grade" "Venue "State" "Source"
"10,000 MANIACS" "0?/0?/?" "All" "DVD" "A" "Eye See Natalie Merchant #1-10,000 Maniacs & Natalie Merchant TV Compilation" "" "" "SBD"
"10,000 MANIACS" "07/29/1986" "All" "DVD" "A-" "JCC College Stadium, Jamestown, NY" "Jamestown, NY" "" "SBD"
"10,000 MANIACS" "0?/0?/1989" "All" "DVD" "A" "MTV Unplugged w/ Michael Penn NYC" "NYC" "" "SBD"
"10,000 MANIACS" "07/04/1989" "All" "DVD" "A" "Rich Stadium NY" "Orchard Park NY" "" "SBD"
"10,000 MANIACS" "04/21/1993" "All" "DVD" "A" "MTV Studios-Unplugged NYC" "NYC" "" "SBD"

I'm unsure if that would work or not?
I DO have a list at TapeTrader, but it's terribly out of date and I have no plans to get it current (even if the site is resurrected ).
It was fine back when snail-mail trading was the way to get bootlegs, but once I learned the bit torrent ropes, TapeTrader became irrelevant.
Personally, I wouldn't donate any amount.
I'm not sure how typical my views are---maybe there ARE enough people who feel TapeTrader is worthwhile enough to donate $$$ to it.

There was an update from M.Peachey on 1/23, but that has gone away and now returns a blank page. I've tried eMailing him several ways but have received no responses. Anyone have any luck contacting him? I'm sure I speak for many when I say "we wait with bated breath."

Well, here's the latest from the man himself:

(question)
MPeachey, your message no longer appears at the TapeTrader.com link. SafeSecureWeb.com, a dead link, now appears. Is this good or bad news? Thanks...

(answer from MPeachey)
Bad news. Site is down in a catastrophic way, and i'm not getting any love from the guy who can fix it. still hopeful though. sorry, i know it sucks.

If your collection is properly flac tagged you may be interested in this site..

http://www.racksandtags.com/

the software pulls from the flac tags and does all the work for you.

He said the lists were safe and he was trying to figure out a way to get them to people. That's what I am hoping for. I've already started a new one at dbetree. But moving 1500 shows manually does not sound too appealing.

I have over 2000 shows on dvd. Fortunately they are all on a detailed Excel spreadsheet with tabs for each band. Was always worried TT would go down! I am trying to enter my stuff into db.etree but it seems they are geared more towards audio and doesn't seem as streamlined as TT. I only have about 10 shows listed there. Long way to go!

Again... if anyone wants to trade who has a list they can send, email me or message me here. I'll send my list.

Quick question.
Are you guys cataloging all your shows?
How you can keep track what shows you have?

I'm planing to make a database/website for people to create your own lists. So you can export if needed too.

This will be cool idea? What you guys think?
db.etree, bt.etree, amazon integration.

Thanks

I have a very B I G list of AUDIO's (sotred on external HDs in FLAC or on CDR's, some still on tapes or Videos).
Totally necessary to catalog all shows.

I have cataloged them in a simple HTML file, that I have created for myselve with a very simple HTML Editor.

A database website might be a good idea.
How should this work, though ?

I was thinking in something like this.
You search the database (Amazon, db.etree,...) and select your discs/shows.
All fileds will be ready (artwork, songs, artist, album, record,..)

You just new to search and click ADD to list. :)

Pretty simple and easy.

And in the future, add more functonality.

All free. :)

What ideas do you guys have?

Something better than racksandtags.com and better than Music Connect (http://connect.collectorz.com/users/demo/music/?viewType=detail)

I take it this is a dead issue?

This really sucks. I have been really busy moving and have not had time to do anything with my collection. All my data was on there. If there is somebody that can retreive/fix thing I can't beleive they can't be motivated by money? I have a PayPal and would pay to get all my data back! And I would gladly pay a yearly fee in the future.

Like some one else said this is most likely the end of my trading days. I'm not going back and entering infomation for all my shows. I have shows the only place I had complete data was on TapeTrader. I'm so screwed!!! I thought the days of things like this were behind us with all the back-up systems. I have a friend that does data recovery for a living. It does not seem like there was a real effort to reach out??? I may be wrong....

wow, I was really hoping TapeTrader would have been back by now :(
I remember when it first went down though that was the reason why I went over to db.etree, but sometimes that has been a bit problematic for me, so I ended up going with MyHobbySite for their CMS and host my list (http://scatteredlight.net/liverecs) myself on godaddy. At least that way I know that it's always backed up and i have more control of it :)
