I'm new here (obviously), finding this site tonight with the hopes of snagging a great audio and/or video copy of tonight's Roger Waters show in Tampa (amazing!).

I have a considerable amount of experience in recording live audio of various events... but concerts have always been hell for me. I've tried recording a few using different equipment and always come out with a horribly distorted result presumably due to overwhelming low frequencies rattling the heck out of my mics. Needless to say, I left the Waters show tonight with yet another unlistenable recording.

I searched this forum for an equipment thread, but didn't see one. If there is one already, can someone point me to it? If not, can someone offer a recommendation on how to not have a concert recording ruined by rumbling, distorted noise?

Thanks! I'm happy to have found this place.

Look in the Tapers Forum under the sub forum "Gear Lust". Welcome to the site.

most likely yer using a mic that can't handle high SPLs...like the Dr said above, check out the Gear Lust forum, read the FAQ threads stickied at the top of the forum first:

then, if you have specific ?s or a budget you'd like to stay under and the gear you currently have, post back and we'll be able to help
