I've been burning a lot of audio (shn/flac converted to aiff) CD's with a 12" G4 Powerbook with the superdrive (24x CD/8x DVD burner), and recently I've been getting a lot of bad burns (a lot of clicks etc.). I've slowed the burn speed down to 8x. Do I need to go lower? Any other possible solutions?

first, what OS are you using? what program to burn with? what program to convert from lossless to aiff? what drive was installed in the laptop [maker/model]?

Running OSX Tiger. Using MacFlac to convert, Toast 6 to burn.

Did you just get a new pack of blanks perhaps? It could be that your drive doesn't like them.

I don't think it's the discs. My real question is, if it's still giving me problems at 8x, is lowering it even more going to do anything?

some people might claim it will, but i've never experienced a difference with the superdrives...

what kind of discs are they [brand/"model"]? maybe a firmware issue with the drive itself [unlikely, but...]?

also, you might wanna get xACT for decoding lossless > wav...its a proven "all-in-one" GUI frontend, perfect for trading purposes... get it here http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21952
