Hey music fans,

I've developed a flac player app for iOS, and I'm looking for a few more beta testers to throw some of their content at it and provide feedback. It's designed for album and live show playback - lossless and gapless above all else.

If you'd like to help test, please reply with the type of device you have.

The app runs on iPhones/iPods with iOS4 or later. It also runs on iPads with iOS 3.2 or later.

I have a 2G (2nd gen) iPod Touch. Still on iOS3, but will be upgrading this week, after I back everything up. Would be more than willing to test it out. The "VLC4iphone" app is shit.

Cool, check back once you've upgraded and I'll include you if it's not too late.

I've already asked him about the Classic. No go unfortunately.

Should have posted here earlier, but the beta is over and the app is now for sale: http://hammockdistrict.com/flacplayer/

With Winamp remote, I can stream the entire library to my iPhone, even flac files.
Just so everyone knows!:clap::clap:

I've been a member here for 6 years. I enjoy live music, prefer quality and hate converting, so I built an app.

I thought some people on the board here might be interested in the same thing, so I asked for some help testing. Didn't get much of a response from people that could help test. I proceeded with other volunteers and released the app.

Well stated. Good luck with the app.

Given the limited storage that iPhones and iPads have, won't they be quite restricted in terms of number of shows that you can take with you?

I think the trade off is ease of use not converting to mp3 or whatever vs number of things you can bring with you.

My old POS iphone4 that I returned was 32GB. That's a lot of music for a trip. Just switch it out when you return. If you get bored, move over to Pandora.

Dan, thanks for the app. I'm messing around with it using dropbox. What benefit do I get from using Filer?

Well you can use Filer as a download manager to grab FLAC files off the web, then send them to FLAC Player. Filer can also extract zip/rar/tgz archives too, so there's that.

For me it doesn't replace iTunes or the iPod app. I do keep a good chunk of lossy music in iTunes, but also have a big archive of FLAC shows and a few choice albums in FLAC. It's a lot easier to drag the FLAC files in (directly from a folder) than converting and "managing" each time I want to listen to a show.

I'll check out the Filer.

Got the FLAC app, works great on the iphone - used dropbox to load the files. plays great.

Downloaded the filer app and now my confusion starts.

Downloaded a 4 part rar file from hotfile.
83384

Extracted each file (do I need to extract each file or can I just tap on one file and it extracts all?)

83385

FLAC files appear in the designated folder

I click on the song (FLAC file) and.........nothing.

Here's a shot of the screen showing the file in the FLAC player, but it's not playing.

I think $10 is a little steep for a FLAC app for the iphone personally, especially since there is no trial period. I have used some of the other FLAC apps for the iphone and they are kludgy pieces of crap, would be nice to find a good one.
