Hi,
I just came across this site and fell IN love! There are many shows here I love, and many that I can put to the table. But, I don't understand how to do it, so first things first. I have a Mac, and downloaded Vuze. I dont know how to go from here. I have the show I want to download, but I need easy terms and very simplified steps into how to get this done. Possibly someone to mentor me thru the process? The show I want is Heart 12/5/77 Birminham, Alabama.
OH!! I will even download a different program if it is easier to use.
Thanks,
Heidi
Once I have mastered this, I will start posting shows with the forums help as well.

Looking at your statistics and the heart thread you were able to figure it out yourself. (Keep in mind that this is a sharing community, so once you finished downloading leave your torrent client (vuze in your case) open so somebody else can download it from you).
Oh and welcome!

you will need to get an app that plays flacs like Cog or Xact to convert the files to something iTunes can play.
Apparently you can download a show..after the download is complete leave Vuze running so others may share from you. leave it open to you have shared 100 percent or more please....On shows that have been posted here for a while that may be hard but on things that have been posted more recently that should not be trouble...
for video get VLC from VLC.org (match to your OS!!!). that will play most everything.
hello welcome enjoy

No, sorry. I just figured out how to post. I still do not know how to download, that is why I posted in the snail mail and at other persons looking for Heart.
Can you help me learn to download, and then upload later?
Thanks,
Heidi

look at the stats under your name...that 555.03 mb suggests that you HAVE indeed gotten something via download.......when you open vuze in the left side panel switch to the library listings and that will show you that you have.....OR open your documents folder and then the Vuze (or azureus) folder..what is in there?
that is one issue which can be worked through once you know what is what...
to download a show from here or other torrent sites using vuze on a mac...
open the page for the show..on the bottom of the first post on that page is an attached file....click on that link. you will get a dialog box asking you with which app you wish to open that file...select vuze (set a a default if you like) and then you will end up downlaoding the file set to your documents folder...THESE FILES WILL NOT PLAY in iTunes without been converted as I posted above..
so....one downloads a show..then converts the file set to a playable format....
be patient trying to get this stuff together it is not too tricky one you are used to it but yes at first it is baffling....
I am not sure how you have 555.03 of downloads done....what is in your Vuze documents folder now?

will go and look at the other things you have mentioned..

download xACT......might I suggest google n wiki to explain it more clearly than I might...however I will give it a shot.
once you have xACT open the app.....hit the decode tab, set it to convert to .aiff drag the files suffixed .flac to the window n hit decode.....if you like you can output the files directly to iTunes....(that is what I do when I am putting this stuff into iTunes.(then using your ears listen to that stuff))
come visit the lounge and see the mighty show...if you dare (cue spooky music)

You can play flac/shn files directly using Cog
I prefer it over iTunes anyway...or you can use xACT to decode the flac/shn files to wav or aiff

Daddtrayroll,
I got Cog, and it worked after some bungled tries!!
Now, if you have some time, would you teach me how to upload some of the shows I have? how do I turn something INTO Flac? And, if I do not know the source, other than Soundboard, or Aud excellent, what do I do?

for uploading you must read bits of the FAQ...Lineage is a big deal here.

Give it time...the poor thing hasn't even figured out the torrent process yet...They'll be running for the hills after a few minutes in there.

Simplified it's something like this:
I put the CD in, Create a folder and drag the tracks from the CD to the Folder... it takes a little bit. They show as .aiff. Then you drag all the tracks to the xACT window and encode to .flac by selecting the .flac button. It will then ask you where to put the .flac tracks and you can make a folder using the band name and date xxx-xx-xx. Use the slider to go to 8 smallest. There are ways you should learn in naming tracks. Name the tracks before doing a checksum. Then make an info.txt using Text Edit and an ffp checksum using xACT. I saw you were using another application so you can do it with that if you prefer.
For xACT http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14246/xact.

just a note, but a few yrs back some of us mac heads did a CD extraction experiment and found that the drag&drop method is not accurate & doesn't catch errors like it should
if ripping from Audio CD, i'd recommend using XLD...its the most accurate, wil adjust for offsets, and gives you an extraction log
just a fwiw

Or use iTunes with the 'error correction' box ticked.

iirc, even with the Error Correction box checked in iTunes, it still missed some of the errors that XLD and xACT picked up on [iTunes doesn't use AccurateRip]...wish i could remember where that thread was :hmm:

thats the one :thumbsup
the only update would be that XLD seems to be even better than xACT now for ripping
