MOst DVD players will now play both NTSC and PAL. Many will also play DIVX. My Philips does.

Philips here too (and I live in PAL country), plays almost anything (except BR).

The key now is a PAL player that upconverts via HDMI and plays dvd9 discs...Philips fits the bill. $50 bucks at Target.

JCPenney has a Philips DVP642 on sale for $20. Plays PAL.
Is this a decent player?

Is this a decent player?I have that deck in the media lab, but not for my family room. It does not upconvert to 1080 via HDMI, so your dvds will look like shit if you play them on a flat panel tv.
