Making a 2-Cam Mix

How do I edit multiple camera angles and a separate audio source (or audio from one of the videos) together into one video without any quality loss, then author it to a disc? I'm on a Windows computer, if that helps you suggest any programs.

I have time to learn how to do this, but right now I seriously know nothing.

but quickly speaking--you'll need a NLE editing suite such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas, Avid, etc etc...capture the footage & import into yer project, sync up both vid sources with yer audio source, cut between the 2 cams as you like, export, compress, then import into yer authoring program for creating menus & building to VIDEO_TS structure

This is where you lost me. I'm not very tech-smart. Export as a what? Why compress?

typically you'll export the edited vid as raw avi, then compress it down to fit onto a DVD [pcm wav audio, m2v video]...you then import the vid & audio streams into yer DVD authoring program for creatin yer tracks/menus/etc


for instance, i'm on a Mac and use Final Cut for capture/editing, Compressor [or another compression prog sometimes] for compressing, and DVD Studio Pro for authoring

Typically a dv tape will be about 13GB per hour.

You need to compress to mpeg2 for DVD format to get it under the size of a DVD.


Try DVDrhelp.com also if you can't find what you need here. What you are attempting is very time consuming and not an easy task. It has many steps and is hard to explain to someone for the first time.

Give it a shot and post back if you get stumped.

Im stumped on something, what if one shot ends early and there is no other shot but I still want the audio to match the entire set instead of trying to match song to song. Should I just try to stretch somehow to match the audio length? If that made any sense, suggestions would be awesome.

are you saying both cam's tapes ended [or there's no footage for whatever reason] but there's still xx minutes of audio left of the show? if so, you can just leave a blank screen w/ audio running, or if you have photos you could always do a photo montage

or the cam footage runs at a faster speed than the audio and you need to speed correct to sync properly from ebginning to end?

the video fades out but I was going to put audio from a different source so Im trying to get the video as seamless as possible then use the audio in the end

if the alternate audio source is better than the cam's audio, just sync the alternate audio with the cam's audio and then discard the cam audio...then it won't be an abrupt change in audio when the video ends
